He was burning through the winter
a little fever down in the cellar left him bleeding from brow
and all the water from the river for the burning couldn't keep him from the
poisoning now

They were raised by an old mountain man
Sprouting seeds from the skin of his hand
One day growing a tree so that he could climb up through the clouds
So that they could see that the whole world was breaking (spinning) down
All the mountain miners reaching for the gold and the deeper they will go in that hell fire mountain hole
And the only barter they know is the price of each one of their souls
And the only practice they know rid that old mountain man from his home
